“Agridulce” Party Featuring Campos-Pons and Leonard Performance Jan. 21

In conjunction with Alchemy of the Soul: Maria Magdalena Campos-Pons at the Peabody Essex Museum, Campos-Pons and Neil Leonard will perform during Agridulce (Bittersweet), an evening party the Museum is sponsoring from 6 to 9 p.m. this Thursday, January 21. Performing with Prospectus (FeFa) artists Campos-Pons and Leonard (saxophone) will be Oriente Lopez (keyboard/percussion); Sandy Perez (percussion);  and Yusnier Sanchez (percussion).

The party, which will be free to members and $10 for non-members, also will feature Cuban cuisine; rum and sugar cane tastings; electronic mashups of Afro-Caribbean beats by DJ Jaminic; presentations about Salem’s history and involvement in the sugar, rum and slave trades by staff from the Phillip’s Library; and tours of pieces from the Museum’s collection showing how the rum and sugar trades influenced decor and design in Salem homes and abroad.

The Museum is located at East India Square, 161 Essex Street, Salem, MA.
