McCauley Part of “The Embodied Scholar” Panel at Tufts April 19
On Tuesday, April 19, from 4:30 to 6 p.m., the Tufts Department of Drama and Dance will present “The Embodied Scholar,” a panel on “negotiating the reception of marked bodies in performance” at Alumnae Hall, Aidekman Arts Center, on the Tufts Medford campus. The three speakers, including Prospectus artist Robbie McCauley (More SUGAR) will “discuss how construction of identity (e.g., race, ethnicity, nationality, ability, gender identity, sexuality, age) mark the body in performance.”
Robbie, who is Emeritus Professor of Performing Arts at Emerson College, will speak specifically about “the reception of bodies marked by race and disease.” Scholar/artist Irma Mayorga from Dartmouth College and Scholar Magda Romanska of Emerson College will be the other two panelists.
A reception with light refreshments will follow the panel, which is presented with support from the Graduate Student Council.
