Water-Themed Group Show with Driscoll’s Work through July 15
Wake, a group exhibition that includes the work of Prospectus artist Ellen Driscoll, will be on view at Dorsky Gallery Curatorial Programs in Long Island City, NY, through July 15.
According to curator Michele L’Heureux: “The exhibition examines the power of water to sustain life and to destroy it and also looks at what is left in its wake. The paintings, drawings, sculptures, and installations in this exhibition explore the sheer force of water in the form of waves, storms and energy, as well as the aftermath of water once it retreats: parched earth, invasive plants, dwindling animal populations, human illness. The visual dialogue between the six artists [whose work is included] invites reflection and discussion on the impact of global climate change.”
Besides Ellen, artists whose work is included in the exhibition are Resa Blatman, Nancy Cohen, Matthew Cusick, Stacy Levy and Naoe Suzuki. Ellen’s Prospectus projects were Distant Mirrors website and FASTFORWARDFOSSIL paintings on recycled plastic.
Dorsky Gallery Curatorial Programs is located at 11-03 45th Ave., Long Island City, NY, and is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays through Mondays.
