Wheeler Residency in Iceland

Deb Todd Wheeler (Chromatic Energy Mirror, SURGE) was one of several artists selected for the Wildfjords [Iceland] Artist Residency (WFAR) in July 2014. WFAR “is a 7-day and night camping and backpacking residency along a specially selected section of the 200km Wildfjords Trail. This newly-mapped trail traces the old horse and walking routes once used by inhabitants traveling between the many valleys and fjords, and weaves through some of the Westfjords’ most majestic land and seascapes.

“WFAR is an opportunity for artists whose work would benefit from a visceral, immersive outdoor living experience, in the context of a richly complex and compelling culture. As an organization we believe that personal connection to the environment and creativity are vital to sustaining a balanced ecology, and hope this residency will enrich participating artists and local residents, both human and non-human.”
