D’Ignazio to Be Respondent at “Postcommodity: The Repellent Fence and Beyond” Nov. 13
Prospectus artist Catherine d’Ignazio (Erase the Border) will be one of three respondents at interdisciplinary arts collective Postcommodity’s presentation, “The Repellent Fence and Beyond” at the ACT Cube (E15-001), Wiesner Building, 20 Ames St., MIT, Cambridge, MA, at 6 p.m., Monday, November 13.
Postcommodity will discuss its 2015 land art installation and socially engaged artwork, Repellent Fence, and the implications of this work on its art practice, its future work, and the field of contemporary art as we approach the year 2043 (when the US transitions to a non-white majority).
Postcommodity is comprised of Raven Chacon, Cristóbal Martínez and Kade L. Twist.
“Postcommodity’s art functions as a shared Indigenous lens and voice to engage the assaultive manifestations of the global market and its supporting institutions. These public perceptions, beliefs, and individual actions comprise the ever-expanding, multinational, multiracial, and multiethnic colonizing force that is defining the 21st Century through ever increasing velocities and complex forms of violence.”
