Prospectus artist Alfredo Jaar (Public Interventions) will be one of four panelists participating in the “Nasher Prize Dialogues: Sculpture + History” scheduled for 7 pm, March 6, at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, 411 Elm St., Dallas, TX. “The discussion will examine the ways in which artists work with documents, found and archived materials, and research to create sculptural work that considers particularly potent historic moments and issues, as well as the current political climate.

“Taking place in Dallas, a city marked profoundly by the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy and racial inequality, ‘Nasher Prize Dialogues: Sculpture + History’ will consider the complex ways in which sculpture tackles the past.” Besides Jaar, panelists will include artist and recent recipient of the Calder Prize Jill Magid (New York); artist and educator Paul Ramirez Jonas (New York), and Dallas-based artist lauren woods. The conversation will be moderated by Ben Davis, national art critic for artnet News.

The event is part of Nasher Prize Dialogues, the discursive platform of the Nasher Prize, the annual international prize for a living artist in recognition of a body of work that has had an extraordinary impact on the understanding of sculpture. This year’s prize-winner is past Artists in Context participant Theater Gates.
